As the coronavirus pandemic continues to shake the country and the election has many people stressed and anxious, we could all use some good vibes sent our way. Each Friday, Mens Health hosts live Instagram sessions to hold candid conversations about improving and maintaining mental health.

Dr. Gregory Scott Brown, M.D., a Mens Health Advisory Board member and Texas-based psychiatrist, hosted a recent session and was joined by Branden Harvey, founder and CEO of Good Good Good, to discuss the ways hes trying to add a dose of positivity to the news through his company. With a background in humanitarian photography, Harvey says he created Good Good Good to make sure positive stories that are underreported get some recognition because the news can often seem overwhelmingly negative.

We all have this internal negativity bias where bad news sticks to our brains like velcro and good news slides right off like a slip n slide, said Harvey. So, how do you tell a story in a compelling way that tricks your brain into absorbing good news?

Harvey explained that reframing the way people consume the news can provide a sense of hope and offers these tips to maintain your mental health, if unplugging isn't an option:

If people just knew how many amazing people are out there creating solutions to these problems, we would all feel a little bit better and I think we would all actually get more involved in making a difference, said Harvey.
