The Incredible Story of Finn, the Steer Who Escaped Slaughter and Hid from Humans for Weeks Before Being Taken to a Sanctuary – One Green Planet

Farm Sanctuary recently shared the video above telling the story of one of their most famous animals, Finn. In late 2018, a 4-5 month old bovine escaped when he was sold at an auction to be slaughtered. He successfully evaded authorities and everyone chasing him for weeks. Security cameras caught footage of him as he tried to survive in the woods and roamed through peoples backyards. Knowledge of the cow in the woods led to the town of New Britain, Connecticut being playfully called Moo Britain.

When an animal advocate named Jennifer Wynn heard of the stray steer, she knew exactly who to call. Farm Sanctuary quickly stepped in and created an elaborate plan to get him to safety. As seen in the video above, it worked!

He was named Finn after literary character, Huckleberry Finn because of his appetite for adventure and strong desire to live. He now lives with a herd at the Sanctuary where he will safely spend the rest of his days in peace. He will never be sent to slaughter or sold again.

One of the most incredible parts of Finns story is the woman who saw him in her backyard and made the ethical connection that hewantsto live. She was emotional as she saw that he was being rescued and taken to safety and decided to transition to a meat-free diet!

Finn is brave and beautiful, and hes one of the few lucky farm animals who was able to not just escape but be given refuge at a sanctuary.
